“We have a new home! #WeAreVancouver #Coventry” – Vancouver’s #WeHaveANewHome hashtag

Vancouver, British Columbia, October 21, 2017—In the lead-up to Halloween, a Vancouver artist, photographer, and illustrator, Cameron Davenport, launched a hashtag campaign with the #WeWantVancouver hashtag, which was quickly taken over by a slew of locals and visitors alike.

As the hashtag trended online, a few of the hashtags that were initially trending seemed to be the most appropriate for the occasion.

“#Vancouver We Want Coventry” was a common response, but other hashtags included #WeBelongToVancouver, #VancouverIsTheCityWeAre, #WeLoveVancouver and #VegasBestCity.

But a closer look at the original hashtags suggests a different story.

“#WeWantVB” is a simple, yet creative and inclusive hashtag that has received a large amount of attention over the past few days, as many people have taken to Instagram to share their thoughts about the hashtag.

“VB is a place to call home,” says Davenports creator and Vancouver-based illustrator Cameron Smith.

“We want to call our friends home.”

With more and more hashtags becoming trending topics, many of the original #We WantVB hashtags have found new homes online.

Vancouver-based artist and illustrators Cameron Smith and Cameron Daugherty have both been trending on Twitter lately.

Smith has been sharing his artworks on Instagram, and Daugries recent book, The City We Are, has been gaining attention from the Vancouver area.

While they may not have a home in the city, the two artists are still looking to find a new way to connect with their communities.
