Toronto’s photo studio, chirp Photo Studio Ontario, shuts down

Toronto’s Photo Studio Ottawa, which was founded in 2005, is shutting down its doors as of June 30.

In a statement issued Thursday, Photo Studio president Tom Meehan said the shutter will affect the company’s photo production business and its Canadian operations.

The studio employs more than 100 people in the city of 500,000.

“The closing of Photo Studio will also result in the loss of approximately 10 positions in Canada,” Meeham said in the statement.

“This is the final blow to Photo Studio’s employees, staff and customers in Canada.”

The closure of the studio follows the closure of other photo production companies in Canada, including the one based in Ontario, called the Chirp.

It is expected to close by the end of July.

The Chirps is owned by an affiliate of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, CBC Media Group.

The CBC declined to comment on the closure.
